03. key Functions

01. Snapshot

Safe Hub (formerly LoneWorker Manager) is award-winning middleware that connects lone and remote workers, via dedicated devices and user-friendly apps to a state-of-the-art alarm receive centre (ARC). The platform provides proactive, reactive and emergency support for people wherever they are in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The system provides managers with a secure portal to access an accurate cross-device snapshot of system activity with real-time reporting. Safe Hub also ensures compliance with health and safety legislation, promotes a culture of safe working, and facilitates auditing and corporate governance.

Emergency

Red Alert helps lone workers in a crisis. Any time they feel at risk or in need of support, they just select the Red Alert option on their device. This will immediately open a two-way call with highly trained staff at an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). The ARCs operate 24/7/365, so the lone worker is guaranteed a response within seconds.

The ARC will have secure access to the worker’s personal emergency escalation process and real-time GPS location. Safe Hub supports an array of BS8484:2016 Gold Certified devices. When these are deployed, the system can direct emergency services straight to the lone worker, bypassing 999 call centres and saving critical time.

Proactive

Safe Check sends a voice, text or email message at pre-set intervals according to the user’s personal risk assessment. The message requests an identity code to confirm that the individual is ‘OK’. If all is well, the system resets until the next message response is due.

If no response is received within the time frame, the system goes into alert mode and connects to the ARC where staff manage the alert through agreed escalation procedures. Contacting the emergency services if required via Unique Reference Number (by-passing ‘999’ call centres).

Reactive

Worker Down activates built-in motion sensors in mobile handsets, monitoring the movement of the handset and its orientation. If for example, the handset detects a sudden impact this could indicate a fall or incident.

Safe Hub then automatically raises an alert with the ARC, the lone worker’s location will be identified using GPS. If the person cannot be contacted via his or her handset emergency services can be quickly dispatched to the worker’s location.

Broadcast

‚Äč

Group Alert is a way to warn groups of lone workers of the hazards they might face – and how to avoid them. With Group Alert, managers can send critical alerts to workers in the event of an emergency.

We developed this feature in response to demand from clients, including the US utility company, American Water. This feature is supported on our app and several of our dedicated devices.

There are plenty of circumstances when Group Alert comes into its own. For instance, there might be a terror alert or attack in a particular area. Another example would be a natural disaster, or an extreme weather event.

04. Accessibility

Smartphone & Desktop Applications

The Safe Hub App is available for Android, Windows, and iOS smartphones. The app can also be accessed from BlackBerry handsets and standard mobile phones via speed dials and SMS programming. The desktop version provides support for home-based workers, office staff who work late and mobile staff who regularly use a laptop.

Satellite & Intrinsically

Safe Devices

The Spot Gen3 Satellite phone provides Safe Hub SOS features for use in areas with a poor, intermittent or non-existent mobile signal. Ecom's intrinsically safe satellite and mobile phones are ruggedised for use in the most extreme conditions. Importantly they are designed to remove any possible occurrence of a spark so they are ideal in areas exposed to flammable substances such as oil and gas rigs.

Discreet Dedicated

Personal Devices

Each worker’s job function carries specific risks inherent to their working scenario. Different scenarios will require a device suited to that situation. So we designed Safe Hub to be completely device agnostic.

As well as the apps, it also supports the widest  range of dedicated personal safety devices on the market.

Wearable Devices & Specialist Beacons

Safe Hub can also be accessed via Android smartwatches providing easy access to key feature at the touch of a button.

Safe Beacon is a warning and alert system. It allows managers to tailor messages according to need. Eg to alert workers when they enter an area that's restricted, has a maximum exposure time, or requires specialist safety equipment.

05. Accreditation

Continum's commitment to excellence and innovation is demonstrated through the industry accreditations that Lone Worker Solutions and Safe Hub have received.

  • The National Security Inspectorate (NSI), has approved Lone Worker Solutions for BS8484 Gold, the British Standard Code of Practice for the provision of lone worker device services.

  • The British Security Industry Association (BSIA), has certified Lone Worker Solutions to the BS8484 quality standard in the categories of Lone Worker Service Supplier and Lone Worker Device / Application.

  • Lone Worker Solutions has received the coveted Secured by Design Award, an initiative owned by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), that aims to reduce crime through effective environmental design. The scheme calls for the installation of security products that meet police-approved standards.
